Every Rose Has Its Skull

I've been making stuff... I swear! I just need to take pictures of everything. :) This was a recent project that I happened to be wearing to work today so I was able to get some okay pics in the restroom.

It was so unbelievably simple, I feel almost feel guilty. Almost. Well, almost almost. Okay, not really.

The top part of the skirt is actually the leftover bottom from a black jersey skirt I cut up to make another skirt (that I still need to gets photographs of). Because I have a lot of junk in the back of my wagon, most skirts tend to be longer in the front than the back so I usually make my skirts about 3" longer in the back. I had cut that basic shape off the top of the waist band of this jersey skirt for the other project so I just flipped the bottom part upside down and turned it around so the hem would act as the waistband and the cut side would fall into the right shape.

I made a small snip inside the skirt in the hem and used the existing hem as the casing tube for the elastic waist.

The skull and roses fabric was from my stash and I had just enough to create a big tube that I gathered and sewed to the bottom after adding a 1" hem. I often don't waste time measuring things so I really lucked out that all the pieces were exactly the right length.

Here are a couple more pics showing the skirt a bit more close up:

Overall, I am really happy with the way this has turned out. In fact today is the 2nd time I've worn it since making it 10 days ago. :)

New Apron

Still alive and still cooking A LOT!  The food blog has really taken off which isn't leaving much room for much else.  I really need to get crafty some time soon. But, I did recently find some time to design myself a brand new apron! Here's a more detailed image of my design: At least I am finding ways to combine my 2 passions! :)

Mmm, mmm, good!

There has really been nothing remarkable going on the past few weeks.  I've made a bunch of yummy food but by the time I am done cooking it, I am so excited to eat it that I forget to take pictures until I am putting away leftovers. :P  This is the only meal that made it and it's probably the most boring visually.  LOL  It was absolutely delicious, though!  I present to you roasted tomato soup and grilled ham & cheese on homemade bread!  I am not a huge fan of soup and never have been.  Tomato soup is one of the few I enjoy because it is creamy and smooth and doesn't look predigested to me.  Now that I have had this, I will never, ever be able to eat canned tomato soup again.  Ever. You can find the recipe for the soup here.   I will also be adding the Pumpkin and Mushroom Lasagna, Shepherd's Pie, and Cherry Bread recipes soon.  Even though the temps are still in the 80's (upper 20's celsius) here in Atlanta, I ...

Sashi Goes On Vacation

I decided I really needed a vacation yesterday so I took a quick trip around the world and got some nice locals to snap pictures of me here and there.  I decided if I was going to go on a trip, I would go in style so I took off in a stretch limo.*  It had a bed covered with kittens for napping between stops, a full stocked bacon bar, and the entire Murder, She Wrote series in the DVD player.  I was set! pic source My first stop was to check out the nightlife in New York City.  Times Square was amazing and I met the nicest man who demanded all my money.  I offered him bacon instead and he was happy enough to take this pic for me. pic source I then skedaddled over to San Francisco to see if the sisters from Charmed were home but they must have been out fighting demons.  I even looked for them at one of their favorite hangouts. pic source From there I bounced down to Brazil and met a wonderful group of kids.  Their teache...
