Taking a bite out of Prom

I can't believe almost 4 months has lapsed since my last post. I could give you a bunch of excuses but it really just comes down to 2 things: life and laziness. :) When I wasn't busy or sick, I just simply did not feel like making anything. No sewing, no drawing, no painting, no crafts of any kind.

I did make something last month, though it's not very exciting. It's just a top I made to wear to Kinky Prom here in Atlanta.

It's just the top of a dress that never fit me right and the bottom of another thrifted dress sewn together to make an empire waisted top. (And yes, my date was a man dressed like a woman. *grin*)

I was so happy with the way my hair and make-up turned out that night and the fangs just added to the effect, I think. The hairfalls were made by a friend of mine which she put on a crocheted headband that I could tie around my head. That is the only thing I don't like about having a short hair: I can't wear pig tails when the mood strikes me. Except now I can. :) I sewed the crocheted headband onto a plastic one and cut off the ends so it wasn't as obvious that these were not attached to my real hair.

Oh! The collar! I made that, too! It was a belt that I got at the Goodwill which I cut down to be 3 inches longer than my neck. I removed the studs from the end and added the necessary hole for buckling it. In order to protect the end I cut, I covered it with hot pink nailpolish which matched exactly!

I signed up a 6-month pledge at Wardrobe Refashion. I must have been feverish at the time. LOL Hopefully this will force me to sew a little more. :) Especially since it means no NEW clothes for me for 6 months, just thrifted and things I make. I can do it, though. An dI know it will save me money in the long run.

I am also going to an adult camping event called Duckstock the Party in June where I will be presenting a class called "Frugal Fetish reFashioning." I have some pretty fun ideas for this!
