Bow Bracelet and Crafty Pirate's Horrific Giveaway

I am finding myself fascinated with bows lately. I think I blame Cute and Creepy for that ever since I got that zombie bow that I shared in my last post. hey there are worse things that I could be fascinated with, I guess. I can't think of anything off the top of my head but I know there are worse things out there! ;)

I decided to try my hand at making a bow in a similar fashion as that from Cute and Creepy and I must say, I am pretty please with the result. Here is my first attempt:

I work full-time in the office of a large corproation and, admittedly, push the envelope as far work-appropriateness of my attire. I feel that a funky hair bow may push things over the edge just a little so figured a bow bracelet would be kind of cool yet not at eye level for the business class. :) Plus, I am a bracelet whore so that also makes it a little more fitting.

I made the bow out of a spider web bandana I got on clearance last year. I attached it to a piece of black elastic cut the size of my wrist and then overlapped 1/2" inch to make it fit snuggly. The button/badge/pin is from skulladay.com. (Click here for the Skull-A-Day shop.) I am *REALLY* happy with how this bracelet turned out and will likely make a few more with other pins that I have in my collection. :) Plus, what a great way to use scraps!

If anyone would like a tutorial on this, I can certainly make one.

Also, for 2 more days, Thera the Crafty Pirate is having an uber-awesome giveaway of horrific stuff! Just click on the picture below for details!

Got something to say? Then I wanna hear it! But if it's mean or an ad that doesn't fit with my blog theme, it may not stay for long. Just sayin'. :) And sorry about the word verification. I'm just tired of spambots invading my happy place. :P

New Apron

Still alive and still cooking A LOT!  The food blog has really taken off which isn't leaving much room for much else.  I really need to get crafty some time soon. But, I did recently find some time to design myself a brand new apron! Here's a more detailed image of my design: At least I am finding ways to combine my 2 passions! :)

Mmm, mmm, good!

There has really been nothing remarkable going on the past few weeks.  I've made a bunch of yummy food but by the time I am done cooking it, I am so excited to eat it that I forget to take pictures until I am putting away leftovers. :P  This is the only meal that made it and it's probably the most boring visually.  LOL  It was absolutely delicious, though!  I present to you roasted tomato soup and grilled ham & cheese on homemade bread!  I am not a huge fan of soup and never have been.  Tomato soup is one of the few I enjoy because it is creamy and smooth and doesn't look predigested to me.  Now that I have had this, I will never, ever be able to eat canned tomato soup again.  Ever. You can find the recipe for the soup here.   I will also be adding the Pumpkin and Mushroom Lasagna, Shepherd's Pie, and Cherry Bread recipes soon.  Even though the temps are still in the 80's (upper 20's celsius) here in Atlanta, I ...

Baby balls

Okay, that post title makes me giggle.  Titling posts is even harder for me than writing them but you'll see how I came to that one in just a bit. :) First, the baby part.  I was asked to design the invitations for a Halloween baby shower!  (Okay, I offered when I heard about it but they took me up on the offer so that's almost the same! *grin*)  The theme of the shower is Boo Crew so I took inspiration from the invite that they found where they loved the wording of but not the design... Image source ...and designed something that fits with the Boo Crew theme without outright copying it. :) They also found this idea (which I am totally stealing if a miracle baby ever happens): Image source So, of course, I made theirs to match the invite: :) Now for the balls.  LOL With my tummy issue, any time I eat anything with chocolate in it, my tummy hurts.  A lot.  Thankfully, I am not one of those girls that HAS to have chocolate eve...
